What does it mean to you to be a women-owned business?
As a former corporate leader, I always had to navigate my career in male-dominated environments and cultures. While there are still challenges that most women face in the business world, including myself; as a woman-owned business, I am able to chart my own course. Most satisfying is having the opportunity to pave the way and providing opportunities to other woman-owned businesses through subcontracts, internships and careers. Giving back is very rewarding.
What challenges have you faced as a women-owned business?
I believe I face the same challenges as many women-owned businesses, particularly as a woman of color, including limited access to capital and gender bias. However, being cognizant of this reality, I have been intentional in building formal and informal support networks to counter as many disadvantages as possible.
