Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, a Baltimore-based law firm, and will be joining the development after signing office leases totaling about 50,000 square feet, the business district’s ownership group announced April 16.

According to a release, Whiteford, Taylor & Preston will have about 33,500 square feet of office space on the second floor of 2455 House St. while Truist Bank will have a 16,500-square-foot space on the sixth floor of Rye Street Market. The leases, both exceeding 10 years, bring the neighborhood’s 440,000 square feet of office space to roughly 75% leased, according to Baltimore Peninsula Partnership.

According to reports, Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is relocating from its St. Paul Street office downtown.

“We are excited to join the growing community of businesses that have chosen Baltimore Peninsula as their new home,” said Alex Neifert, co-managing partner of Whiteford’s Baltimore office.

“As a law firm with deep roots in Baltimore, we were looking for a location reflecting both our commitment to Baltimore and our vision for Whiteford in the region. Baltimore Peninsula offers exactly that—modern, well-designed office space in a dynamic waterfront neighborhood. We look forward to being part of this exciting new chapter in Baltimore’s story.”

Whiteford will join fellow tenants CFG Bank, Ayers Saint Gross, Daily Grind and Molly’s Dog Care at 2455 House St. The building features a rooftop terrace, open-air courtyard and fitness center.

Rye Street Market, which BPP calls “the central town square of Baltimore Peninsula,” is also home to the University of Maryland’s Flex MBA campus. Truist Bank, which has numerous branch locations in Maryland, will join Chambers, Disaronno, Jacobs Engineering, Longeviti and DecisionPoint at Rye Street Market.

“Baltimore has long been a strategic market for Truist, and our move to Baltimore Peninsula is another affirmation of that commitment,” Truist Bank regional president T.J. Hughes said.

“This new space creates opportunities for greater collaboration among our teammates while reinforcing our belief in Baltimore’s future and the power of investing where we live and work.”
