Ryan S. Perlin, co-founder and partner at Malarkey Perlin, LLC, represents clients throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C., in medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, automobile crashes and serious personal injury cases. Before dedicating his career to plaintiffs’ work, he spent years at a leading Baltimore defense firm representing hospitals, doctors and health care providers in medical malpractice lawsuits and defending local and national clients in high-stakes tort cases.

His record in the courtroom includes a $5 million jury verdict in a medical malpractice case believed to be one of the largest such verdicts in Howard County history. Perlin has tried and settled cases in state and federal courts across Maryland and D.C. and has been admitted pro hac vice in Delaware and Pennsylvania. He holds the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Maryland Super Lawyer every year since 2011. He was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for 2025 and 2026 in medical malpractice and personal injury law and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers for Personal Injury Law in the Baltimore area in 2026.

A graduate with honor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Perlin competed on the National Trial Team, served as vice president of the Moot Court Board and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for excellence in oral and written advocacy. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Stuart R. Berger on the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, now a judge on the Appellate Court of Maryland.

He served as president of the board of directors for Disability Rights Maryland from 2021 to 2024 and continues to serve on that board. He is the immediate past president of the Alumni Board for the University of Maryland Carey School of Law and serves on the Board of Governors of the Maryland Association for Justice.

“I believe lawyers are given the gift of understanding the system of government and power, and have a responsibility to use that knowledge to help people who otherwise might not know how to navigate it,” Perlin said.

Outside the office, he is a dedicated mentor to students and young lawyers, working through the law school, bar organizations and community connections to help those entering the profession navigate the early stages of their professional lives.
