Washington County state’s attorney narrowly wins GOP primary

Washington County State’s Attorney won the state’s attorney Republican primary race by 27 votes, according to the ‘ website.

Cirincion could not immediately be reached for comment.

Cirincion has 4,996 votes compared to 4,969 votes for Republican challenger Adam Daniel Greivell. These votes are official after all primary races were certified Monday night, according to Washington County Election Director Barry Jackson.

Greivell declined to comment.

Greivell had been leading by 18 votes at the end of Election Day counting.

With no Democratic candidate running in the primary for state’s attorney, the winner of the Republican primary might be the county’s next state’s attorney.

The deadline has passed for petition candidates to make a declaration of intent for the Nov. 3 general election, according to Jackson. To be a petition candidate, the person must submit enough eligible signatures to get their name on the ballot for the general election. Write-in candidates have until Oct. 15 to file.

Cirincion received more votes than Greivell in mail-in ballots, leading in that category 906 to 647. She also received more during early voting, leading in that category 1,388 to 1,004.

Greivell received more votes than Cirincion on Election Day, leading in that category 3,218 to 2,613. He also received more in provisional votes, leading in that category 100 to 89.
