Marriott projects 1,300 more hotels

Marriott International, of Bethesda, plans to add 1,300 hotels in the next three years, the company said on Monday. That works out to as many as 235,000 new rooms by the end of 2017, Marriott said, in announcing what it would tell a meeting of security analysts and institutional investors on Monday at the new Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C. Marriott also said it would expect 19 to 23 percent growth in earnings per diluted share, an increase of $4 to $4.60. Marriott estimates adjusted earnings of $2.1 billion to $2.3 billion by 2017, a 12 to 14 percent compound growth rate from 2013.
