Maryland firm introduces new scalpel
Ray Frager//October 27, 2014//
US Medical Innovations, a Takoma Park-based biomedical device manufacturing company, has introduced the Canady Hybrid Plasma Scalpel. The electrosurgical scalpel allows a surgeon to simultaneously cut and coagulate through tissue at a temperature of less than 98 degrees. This should reduce blood loss during an operation, speed the procedure and improve healing, US Medical Innovations says. The scalpel has four separate operating modes: hybrid plasma, argon plasma coagulation, conventional monopolar cut and coagulation. It can be used in a variety of surgeries.
