What’s been your biggest success?
Six years into my chairman role, I am so proud of where the firm stands. To have clients tell the Chambers rankings guide that our practices are “very responsive and helpful,” “strategic and deliver great value” and “demonstrate substantial experience” is meaningful. It gets to the heart of our mission to help clients preserve and create value by helping them solve their most challenging problems.
Who have been the biggest mentors in your career?
I am grateful for my mentors. The late Gail Mirassou was not only an incredible assistant, but one of the most influential mentors I have had in my career. She took me under her wing and taught me early on how to navigate the firm. Lawyers Kathie Pontone, Jeff Seibert and Sandy Howard have been outstanding teachers/sounding boards, along with clients, some with whom I have worked with my entire career.
What are your hopes for the state or your community this year?
This is an exciting time for Baltimore, with major commercial development projects underway all across the city, from the Baltimore Peninsula to Harbor Point, Penn Station to an entertainment district south of the stadiums and now the announcement of a reimagined Harborplace. We are thrilled by the prospect of a revitalized waterfront and the transformative effect these projects could have.
