Mercy Medical Center celebrates Black History Month, 150th anniversary with community event
Mercy Medical Center marked its 150th anniversary and Black History Month with a celebration on Feb. 6 at the Mary Catherine Bunting Center mezzanine.
The event featured information tables, including Cristo Rey Jesuit High School’s work-study program, which currently places 16 students across hospital departments. Attendees learned about the Mercy Centering Pregnancy program, which provides group medical visits and education for expectant mothers.
Dr. David N. Maine, president and CEO of Mercy Health Services, and Sister Helen Amos, RSM, Executive Chair of the Board of Trustees, attended the gathering.
The hospital’s February celebrations continue with Ballet Nouveau performances, a movie night, chapel service, and the “*Inspired by YOU, Cooked by US*!” recipe competition. Additional activities include weekly trivia and “Hero of the Week” spotlights highlighting Mercy leaders.
