Carroll Hospital president announces plans to retire
Carroll Hospital President and Chief Operating Officer Garrett Hoover announced plans to retire later this year. His retirement will cap 38 years in health care leadership, accoring to a press release from LifeBridge Health, which is the hospital’s parent company.
Hoover joined Carroll Hospital in March 2020 and led the facility through the COVID-19 pandemic. He has overseen major campus improvements including a new patient tower with a critical care unit, renovated perioperative area and post anesthesia care unit and other initiatives as part of the hospital’s Vision 2020 plan.
No official date for his retirement has been announced.
“Serving as president of Carroll Hospital has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Hoover. “I am deeply proud of our Carroll Hospital team and what we have accomplished together. I am grateful for the dedication of our caregivers and staff in working together in our shared mission to care for others and improve the health of the people in our community.”
Leslie Simmons, LifeBridge Health executive vice president and chief operating officer, will serve as interim president of Carroll Hospital while a national search is conducted. Simmons previously served as president of the hospital.
“Garrett has tirelessly advocated for Carroll Hospital, our team members and our greater Carroll County community. We are thankful for his leadership and service and wish him the best in his retirement,” Simmons said.
