Fence contracting factory relocates to Frederick
Hercules Custom Iron, a company providing specialty fences, security barriers and ornamental ironwork throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, is moving its site from Walkersville to Frederick, real estate firm KLNB announced.
The new facility will triple the size of HCI’s current operations and double its shop and office footprint, according to Frederick County officials. Located at 4607 Wedgewood Blvd. in Frederick, HCI’s new 56,000-square-foot location will accommodate space most recently occupied by Flying Dog Brewery.
HCI, a division of Hercules Fence, plans to expand its custom metals fabrication and machining capabilities through the relocation, according to KLNB. Moving from its 26,000-square-foot Walkersville facility, HCI invested $3M into the new site.
Through the HCI expansion, the company’s workforce has already grown from 35 to 75 employees with plans to exceed 100 staff members in the next two years, KLNB said in a statement.
Gov. Wes Moore joined HCI for a ribbon cutting ceremony last month. Production has commenced at the new location, which manufactures fencing and railing for commercial, industrial, and public sector clients.
“Future plans include the acquisition of an advanced laser cutter to enhance the facility’s ability to machine solid metal into specialized custom parts,” a KLNB statement says.
“HCI’s work can be found at Camden Yards, the Washington Commanders’ stadium, and BWI. Its work will also be visible on the upcoming Washington Metro Purple Line.”
