UM breaks ground on proton therapy cancer treatment center
The University of Maryland School of Medicine officially broke ground Tuesday for a $200 million, 110,000-square-foot cancer treatment facility that it says will be the first in the region to offer proton therapy, which targets radiation to tumors more precisely and results in fewer side effects.
