FirstEnergy to hire 30 to 40 at Williamsport headquarters

HAGERSTOWN — The president of Corp.’s operations says the company will add 30 to 40 workers at its office.

James Fakult made the announcement Wednesday at a meeting.

He says the new jobs will be in customer service and engineering. About 130 employees already work in Williamsport.

Akron, -based First-Energy announced in February it would make Williamsport the headquarters for its electric utility unit.

Potomac Edison has about 250,000 Maryland customers and nearly 150,000 more in neighboring Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Those customers were served by Allegheny Energy Inc. before FirstEnergy acquired it earlier this year.
