So, it’s finally happened. And it’s a lawyer.
It’s not often law firms play a central role in celebrity tabloid news, but then, it’s not often that George Clooney proposes marriage, either.
But Clooney’s plan to tie the knot with human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, was officially confirmed by his intended’s London law firm, Doughty Street Chambers, in a congratulatory statement.
“The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married,” the firm said.
Alamuddin has been working for the international law firm since 2010 and is now a partner. She attended St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University and New York University School of Law.
The Lebanese-born lawyer has an extensive resume. She has done human rights work for the United Nations, represented Ukraine’s ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko in the European Court of Human Rights and represented controversial Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in extradition proceedings.
So after years of wading through actresses, models and model/actresses, looks like an impressive legal mind finally won America’s #1 Bachelor’s heart.
