Calvert Cliffs nuclear reactor shuts down
Associated Press//May 1, 2014//
LUSBY — Officials for the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant say one of its two reactors shut down during electrical breaker testing.
Spokesman Kory Raftery says Unit 1 at the plant in Lusby shut down automatically about 10:15 a.m. Thursday. He says all safety systems responded as designed and the unit came off line as expected.
Raftery says the unit is in safe and stable condition and operators are investigating the cause of the shutdown.
He says Unit 2 is operating at full power.
