Rawlings-Blake thanks business for post-riot support
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake lauded businesses for their efforts to help the city recover from riots in April that followed the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray from injuries suffered in police custody.
Her remarks came during the 41st Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards on Tuesday. She also touted efforts by her administration to improve Baltimore’s economy through various measures, such as the elimination of minor privilege fees, doubling funding to the the city’s Small Business Resource Center and proposing a $2,500 annual tax credit for first-responders who buy homes in the city.
“Our city will not be defined…by a few hours of last year’s unrest,” Rawlings-Blake said.
The awards were presented by the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Baltimore Development Corp.
