Abate named board chair of Cybersecurity Association of Maryland

Cybersecurity Association of Maryland Inc. founder and chairman Art Jacoby announced the election of Gina Abate, the president and CEO of woman-owned, Elkridge-based Edwards Performance Solutions, as his successor to lead the organization beginning Jan. 1.

Abate was appointed president of Edwards Performance Solutions in 2013 and CEO in 2016. She led the company’s move into cybersecurity with the acquisition of Maryland-based Evolved Cyber Solutions.

Prior to joining Edwards, Abate was a vice president at NTT Data Federal Systems (formerly Keane Federal Systems) and BAE Systems.

She has more than 25 years of proven leadership with broad executive, technical and business management experience in the Federal Government as both a Civil Servant and a commercial sector contractor.

Abate holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Texas Lutheran University and a Paralegal Masters Certificate from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University.

Recent additions to CAMI’s board of directors include Keith Moulsdale, partner and co-chair of the Cyber Security, Information Management & Privacy practice at Whiteford Taylor & Preston; and Tom Sadowski, vice chancellor for economic development with the University System of Maryland.

The Cybersecurity Association of Maryland Inc. is a statewide, 501(c)(6) organization formed in 2015 to identify Maryland’s cybersecurity product and service providers and facilitate the introduction of those providers to local, national and global businesses, government entities, nonprofit organizations and academic institutions seeking cybersecurity solutions.

CAMI’s mission is to create a global cybersecurity marketplace in Maryland and generate thousands of high-pay jobs through the cybersecurity industry.
