Ciena Corp. has deal to acquire Texas analytics company

A networking systems company in Hanover has a deal to buy a Texas analytics and performance management firm.

Ciena Corp. on Thursday announced its deal to acquire Centina Systems, a privately-held firm in Plano, Texas. The company didn’t disclose the terms of the deal, but expects it to close by the end of the year.

Ciena plans to integrate Centina into its Blue Planet division, which provides automation software and professional services. The company said Centina would expand Blue Planet’s assurance capabilities by collecting and collating data from multiple vendors and network layers.

Rick Hamilton, senior vice president of Blue Planet, said in a news release that Centina’s service assurance solution will help the company’s customers resolve issues more quickly and optimize network performance.
