Maryland State Prosecutor announced two new deputy state prosecutors on Monday: and .

Blomquist comes to the office after nearly two decades at the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, where he recently served as chief of the office’s Gun Violence Enforcement Division, according to a press release from the Office of the State Prosecutor.

Leaving the city and joining the Office of the State Prosecutor was difficult, Blomquist said in an interview.

“It’s obviously an exciting opportunity for me (but) it wasn’t easy leaving the Office of the State’s Attorney after 19 years (of) having my career focused on violent crimes,” Blomquist said. “It’s obviously a little different focus at the Office of the State Prosecutor.”

Blomquist graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law and is a past president of the Baltimore City Bar Association, according to the release.

David has served as a senior assistant state prosecutor since 2018 and previously served as chief of staff to the chairman of the Judicial Proceedings Committee in the Maryland General Assembly and as an assistant state’s attorney in the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, according to the release. David is a graduate of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.

“I’ve been (with the State Prosecutor’s Office) for about 18 months and was in a prosecutorial role before later taking on some government relationship work,” David said. “With this deputy role formalizing my current position, it’s a great opportunity for me.”

Howard said in the release that he’s “delighted” Blomquist is joining the office and David will be expanding her role there.

“I am confident our new leadership team will best posture us for future success and continue to drive our office’s vital mission of combating corruption throughout the State of Maryland,” Howard said.
