Unreported Opinions//July 25, 2022//
Criminal procedure — Jury deliberations — Disclosure of unadmitted evidence
Hugo Portillo-Chavez and Jonathan Escobar-Hernandez, appellants, were tried jointly before a jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, and were each found guilty of murder in the first degree, and conspiracy to commit first degree murder. Their defense at trial focused the jury’s attention on the fact that the State’s evidence against them depended upon the testimony of four cooperating participants in the murder who had pled guilty and were testifying pursuant to plea agreements.
