Casey Baynes
Founder and Executive Director, Casey Cares Foundation

After working for several children’s charitable organizations, Baynes, a longtime philanthropist, left to help run her family’s business in Baltimore. After missing a sense of fulfillment, she decided to leave that position to follow her heart. Thus, the Casey Cares Foundation was born.
Although headquartered in Columbia, Casey Cares is a nonprofit that works with families in eight states throughout the Mid-Atlantic, parts of the Midwest, Florida and Washington, D.C. She continues to head the Foundation, guiding its mission and growing the programs across the mid-Atlantic region.
Unlike many children’s charities, Casey Cares provides uplifting programs and experiences to critically ill children diagnosed from birth and continuing through their 18th birthday. Baynes offers those experiences to not only those with cancer, but sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, blood disorders, heart conditions and more. The program offers experiences to family-centric events such as tickets to sporting events, live shows, museums, group parties and birthday surprises. Typically, a child will participate in about six programs each year.
Her proactive approach to treating the foundation like a business allowed her to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
