President and General Manager, WBAL

For more than 25 years, Dan Joerres has worked in various functions for Hearst Television, the parent company of WBAL. Holding a Bachelor of Science from the University of Milwaukee, Joerres worked his way from being an account executive at WISN-TV in Milwaukee to General Sales Manager at the WXII-TV in
Winston-Salem/Greensboro. Joerres landed his big role as President and General Manager of WBAL-TV in 2011. In 2022, he was given oversight of WBAL NewsRadio and 98 Rock Baltimore.

Giving back to his community has always been important to Joerres. While at WXII in Winston-Salem, he expanded community projects for the station. Joerres was a key driver of establishing the Triad Flight of Honor, a whose mission is to transport U.S. veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honor the sacrifices of themselves and their friends. Joerres credits his father, a former broadcaster, for serving as a guide in his professional and personal life.

At WBAL, Joerres oversees philanthropic partnerships with organizations such as Special Olympics Maryland and Horizon Day Camp. Each year, employees at WBAL
volunteer at Horizon Day Camp to spend time with campers. Horizon Day Camp serves children with and offers opportunities for them to just be kids.

Joerres serves on various boards, including the Greater Baltimore Committee, Shock Trauma Board of Visitors, Loyola Blakefield, Stella Maris, Maryland/DC/Delaware State Broadcast Association Board and the Center Club Board of Trustees.

As a result of his philanthropic partnership with Special Olympics Maryland, he was the recipient of the first-ever Maryland Special Olympics Founder Award in 2023.
