Pizza is beloved far and wide in the U.S., and the nation has been recognized internationally as having some of the best pizza in the world. Add two Maryland spots to that list.

50 Top Pizza, a publication founded in Italy that serves as a sort of Michelin Guide for pizza, has featured numerous U.S. pizzerias on its annual guide to the best pizzerias in the world and even releases a top 50 guide for U.S. pizza specifically.

Pizza originated in Italy and was later brought to the U.S. by Italian immigrants and, since then, the dish has evolved to include various regional styles. This guide focuses primarily on pizzerias that serve pies and slices in the traditional Neapolitan-style, with winners selected based on judges’ reviews after anonymously at restaurants.

Angeli’s Pizzeria in and Inferno Pizzeria Napoletana in Darnestown made this year’s list.
