Hill, Breanna

Breanna Hill considers it an honor to work in corporate philanthropy, a field she serves in as director of community impact at APG Federal Credit Union. Alignment, budget or timing will often keep her from supporting every organization that asks, a challenge she faces regularly in the role. In those cases she finds other ways to help.

Among her professional achievements, the one she ranks highest to date is a volunteer hours benefit, the first of its kind at her current organization, which she developed and rolled out. Her employer is home to team members she counts among the most giving and supportive, and the benefit lets them engage with the community during the workday in ways that draw on their own passions and expertise.

When a Baltimore nonprofit struggled to secure funding, Hill provided ongoing guidance, leveraging her fundraising and corporate experience to create a plan for the group. It pinpointed marketing strategies, key deadlines and aligned grants, and she put the team in touch with potential supporters and partners.
Hill has lived through a range of difficult situations and life events, which she believes allow her to connect with others and to offer them a genuine understanding. That understanding makes her truly empathetic toward underserved communities and organizations doing boots-on-the-ground work to lift them. Whether she approaches support individually or on behalf of a corporation, she looks at the situation and tries to provide what she believes would have helped and supported her at the time.

Working with employees, she lets them know that philanthropy and giving back can take different forms from one person to the next and that it rests on the support each person is able to give.
Whether that means contributing donations, time spent mentoring or showing up when and how they can.
