Utility companies say nearly 300,000 customers in the mid-Atlantic region are still in the dark days after Hurricane Irene blasted the area with heavy rain and winds.
Baltimore Gas and Electric was reporting the most outages, with about 239,000 Tuesday morning. The utility has said it could take until Saturday to fully restore electricity.
Pepco said about 17,000 customers lacked power in Washington and its Maryland suburbs. The company says it expects to have power fully restored by Thursday evening.
The Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative says it has about 28,000 customers out.
Delmarva Power is reporting about 10,500 customers without power.
And Dominion Power says about 3,900 customers in northern Virginia don’t have electricity.
