What is your most significant accomplishment?

Professionally, my most significant accomplishment is building and sustaining a profitable human resources practice, now in its 20th year, as an African American woman of an advanced generation. I have succeeded in beating the odds of old-guard institutional and structural barriers. This has been no small feat.

Please share an example of mentoring.

In the community, I have a passion for mentoring the next generation. For 12 years, I have been a member of the Advisory Council to the Passport-to-the-Future Program at Howard County Public Schools, providing guidance on curriculum-based on employer needs and requirements and encouraging other businesses and organizations to join the initiative.

The program culminates in a day long job fair at which high school juniors participate in mock interviews. Each year, this program grows larger as I encourage employer participation through educational partnerships. Students and employers benefit as they take this experience into the job market.
