Please share with us one example of your community leadership that helps promote other women.
I am very proud to be a part of the Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County and also have served as past treasurer. The WGC is dedicated to engaging women of all generations in the power of community philanthropy. Our contributions of time, talent, and financial resources help make a significant difference in the lives of women and families in our community. In 12 years, we are proud to have awarded 159 grants totaling $510,200 to 58 nonprofit organizations. We are truly changing the lives of women and their families in Harford County.
Overcoming obstacles is key to success. In the spirit of helping other women succeed personally and/or professionally with your words of wisdom, share how you overcame an obstacle in your career.
Always remember there isn’t opportunity or challenge that can’t be overcome. As women, we have to always remember “yes, we can.” Obstacles face us each and every day, and they make us stronger. We need to remember that our professional life is business and try to steer clear of taking things personally which can be our downfall. If your approach does not work, stand back, rethink and try again. It isn’t easy to accept “no,” but quite rewarding when we know what the right choice is and stay the course. It is our persistence and intuition that carries us to the finish line.
