What is your most Significant Accomplishment?

My most significant personal accomplishment was while serving as president and CEO of FSC First for more than two decades. I was initially employed there on a short-term contract and it evolved into a 24 1/2-year career. I grew the organization from one full-time and two part-time employees in 1998, to a staff of 12 full-time and three part-time employees when I retired in December 2022. The annual budget grew from $138,000 to more than $3.2 million.

In an effort to provide creative and innovative financial solutions to pre-bankable and underbanked minority-owned businesses, we grew the economic development financing programs from two in 1998 to more than 12 in December 2022. That being said, the most significant accomplishments were attained during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under my leadership, the organization pivoted from exclusively providing non-traditional business loans to small and minority-owned businesses, to also providing $34 million in grants to support more than 730 businesses and 2,400 jobs, primarily in Prince George’s County.
