Outback Steakhouse opening new restaurant in Silver Spring with charitable component
Outback Steakhouse will commemorate the opening of its latest restaurant in Silver Spring April 10 with a charitable ribbon-cutting ceremony to benefit Johns Hopkins Oncology Department of Chesapeake Bay Area Charities.
The new restaurant at 8661 Colesville Road will have a soft opening for guests on April 9, but a grand-opening event the following day will feature a ribbon-cutting event as guests will have the opportunity to receive free Outback merchandise and win giveaways, including the chance to win free Outback Steakhouse for a year.
The 6,000-square-foot restaurant will have space for approximately 187 guests and will add 100 jobs to the Silver Spring and Montgomery County economies.
As part of Outback’s ongoing community partnership program, up to $5,000 of proceeds from opening day sales will benefit the Johns Hopkins Oncology Department of Chesapeake Bay Area Charities, an organization committed to ongoing efforts as a leader in care and innovative research for cancer patients and their families in the community.
The eatery’s reimagined interior features artwork throughout the restaurant, including a mural inspired by the community’s tie to cherry blossoms and Maryland pride created by artist Lindsey Jenneman. The art depicts an Aussie Koala surrounded by cherry blossom flowers with the Maryland flag in the reflection of its sunglasses.
