Silver Spring food court to occupy 10 new restaurants

One of Montgomery County‘s newest dining attractions is soon set to open in downtown Silver Spring‘s Ellsworth Place.

Commas Food Hall, a food court located on the shopping mall’s third level, is scheduled to host a two-day grand opening celebration Sept. 27-28. GBT Realty Corp., a Tennessee-based commercial real estate agency and owner of Ellsworth Place, confirmed that the 13,000-square-foot Commas Food Hall will accommodate 10 “diverse merchants” serving global flavors that appeal to customers from various cultural backgrounds. 

Florida-based Fireten Hospitality has been tapped to oversee the operations, management and leasing of the food hall, which has two stalls available for lease, according to a release.

“The moment we’ve all awaited is here. The city of Silver Spring is now home to one of the most anticipated and unique dining options ready to serve the community and its visitors alike,” said Trey Culpepper, GBT’s chief operating officer. 

“With its prime location at the atrium in Ellsworth Place with immediate access from the shopping center’s Ellsworth Drive entrance, this space is destined to be a hub and gathering spot for all those who work and play in downtown Silver Spring.” 

The 10 eateries committed to Commas Food Hall, according to a release, are as follows:

• 6 Skewers: sandwiches, kabobs and savory stews are reimagined with traditional Persian flavors
• C³ Bar: a locally inspired watering hole featuring a curated wine selection, self-pour beer taps and zero-alcohol cocktails
• Claude Have Mercy: a seafood-focused menu offering shrimp burgers, seafood hot dogs and crab jollof rice
• J&J Mex-Taqueria: a Tex-mex restaurant serving authentic Mexican food
• Kellem Coffee: freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee and East African favorites
• MV Asian Kitchen: offering East Asian classics flavored with “bold” spices 
• Momo Hub: an Nepalese dining experience bringing traditional dumplings and pancakes to its second location
• Tato’s: celebrating the all-American potato with fries, wedges and potatoes loaded with various toppings
• The Champs Kitchen: Caribbean flavors infused with island favorites
• Tokoa Cheesesteaks: a purveyor of cheesesteaks, tacos and quesadillas 

The grand opening events, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 27 and noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 28, will include live music, face painting, magicians, free prizes, a raffle drawing, food samples and more.
