Md. lawyer admits laundering drug proceeds

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A has pleaded guilty to a after admitting that he took in tens of thousands of dollars from drug traffickers.

Thirty-nine-year-old Brian W. Young of Upper Marlboro, Md., entered his Tuesday in federal court in , Va. He faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in July.

Young admitted he advised Waldorf, Md. marijuana dealer William Cornman on how to make drug proceeds appear legitimate. Prosecutors say when Cornman was arrested in 2008, Young took in more than $60,000 from Cornman’s drug partners and funneled much of it to Cornman’s lawyers. Prosecutors say Young also asked a law partner to hide $15,000 in drug proceeds, which the partner buried in Aquasco, Md.
