ROCKVILLE — A portion of Metro’s has been shut down because of hanging above the tracks.

The red line was closed Tuesday between the and Twinbrook stations in . Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel says the problem was reported about 10 a.m. He says the hanging power lines have made it unsafe to operate on that part of the tracks.

spokesman Andre Francis says it’s not yet clear if the problem is -related. He says the lines are hanging lower than they should be but that no lines are broken.

Shuttle buses are ferrying passengers between the two Metro stops. Taubenkibel says riders could also use Metrobuses or Ride On buses if they want to avoid the shuttles.
