Guy Guzzone has served as the state senator for District 13 (Howard County) since 2015. He has been the chair of the budget and taxation committee since 2020. He also chairs the health and human services subcommittee.
A tireless advocate for education, he has fought to improve student performances and facilities in Howard County and the state. The Democrat has also worked to improve public safety, promote environmental protection, economic growth and fiscal responsibility.
Born in Baltimore, Guzzone graduated from Parkville High School and the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor’s degree in economics and government and politics and a master’s degree in public management.
Guzzone was elected to the Howard County Council District 3 seat in 1998 and served for eight years. Voters then elected him to the House of Delegates (District 13) for Howard County from 2007 to 2015. He served as deputy majority whip from 2011 to 2014 and was a member of the appropriations committee during his time as a delegate.
He is a board member for the Maryland School for the Blind. He previously served as a member of the Early Childhood Education Action Group, Howard County from 2015 to 2017 and the State Children’s Environmental Health and Protection Advisory Council from 2016 to 2021.
