A man won $50,000 through a scratch-off game he played Christmas morning after buying Ravens X10 tickets as his own stocking stuffer, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Henry Groulx used the Maryland Lottery app on his phone to scan his tickets on Christmas morning while opening gifts, a Maryland Lottery release states. The app notified him to take his ticket to the lottery, indicating a big prize.

He returned to the retailer to scan the ticket and discovered he’d won $50,000. Groulx claimed the prize on Dec. 30.

Groulx bought the tickets, including the winning ticket, at the AC&T convenience store at 22507 Jefferson Blvd. (Md. 64), which is at a corner with Mapleville Road (Md. 66) in the Cavetown area.

The lottery reports Groulx hadn’t made any plans yet for his winnings.

“For the meantime, he’s going to continue work as a federal government employee, working on cars in his home garage and cheering on the ,” the release states.

The Ravens and Steelers are scheduled to play Sunday night to determine which team wins the AFC North and a playoff spot.

The Ravens X10 scratch-off game, whose tickets cost $10, started on Aug. 20, according to the lottery website. As of Jan. 2, two top prizes of $200,000 remained.

Non-winning Ravens X10 tickets can be entered in a second-chance opportunity. The deadline to enter is Jan. 4 and the final drawing is scheduled for Jan. 5, the release states.
