Partial Hospitalization Program
Achieve Behavioral Health Services has impacted its community in a short span of time, beginning with its Partial Hospitalization Program and the leadership of co-founder and CEO Sam Poggi. Founded in March 2023, the organization set out to improve the quality of treatment and support services available to the Medicaid population, where care options are often limited.
That standard of care, established at the organization’s founding, represents the core of its approach. The aim was to deliver respectful, high-quality support to individuals seeking recovery, with staff members who have firsthand experience with recovery and are committed to helping others.
What distinguishes the program is its emphasis on individualized care for each client. Many staff members are in recovery themselves, which allows them to relate directly to clients’ experiences. Twelve staff members are also alumni, bringing their own perspectives to newcomers seeking support and understanding at the start of recovery. The organization offers extensive clinical and peer support, ensuring individuals feel heard and prepared as they transition to the next stage.
The results reflect that model. Achieve has served more than 1,325 clients with a 73% completion rate, compared with the national average of 42% for this level of programming. The organization believes it has achieved its goal of providing the highest quality care and respect for individuals seeking recovery, and it continues to evolve. Looking ahead, the team aims to improve that completion rate further and expand the number of staff members who are alumni, strengthening its mission-driven approach.
The organization’s development has involved Poggi alongside co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Elliott Slattery, Chief Financial Officer Marie Spearman, Chief Strategy Officer Ben Eaton and Chief Growth Officer Tom Santi. The organization currently has 88 employees.
