Parker elected chair of Cummings’ Israel program

Norman E. Parker Jr., of counsel in the Public Finance Department in ‘s Baltimore office, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Elijah Cummings Youth Program in Israel.

The ECYP invests in promising teens from Maryland’s 7th Congressional District and prepares them to serve as open-minded leaders. Through , leadership workshops, and a month-long residence in Israel, the ECYP fosters positive relations among all ethnic communities, concentrating on leadership development, the promotion of interethnic understanding and tolerance, and civic involvement.

Mr. Parker represents clients in financing transactions in the area of affordable housing and has considerable experience in public finance and economic development. He has counseled several state financing and development authorities and has advised a number of public housing authorities on the development of affordable housing. From May 2000 to June 2004, he served as chairman of the Board of Ethics of Baltimore City.
