Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at Roxbury Correctional Institution inmate in .

The deceased, identified as Colin Wolf, 32, was a state inmate serving time at the Roxbury Correctional Institution. Wolf pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of his 2-month old niece, according to the Baltimore Banner.

Wolf was pronounced deceased by emergency medical service personnel and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

A suspect, also an inmate, has been identified. He is not being formally identified until charges are placed.

According to the preliminary investigation, Wolf was found unresponsive in his cell at about 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20. He was later pronounced deceased.

The Maryland State Police Unit was contacted by investigators from the Internal Investigative Unit and assumed the investigation. Police believe his cellmate was in the cell at the time of his death.

State Police Homicide Unit investigators are continuing the investigation. Assistance is being provided by State Police crime scene technicians and investigators with the DPSCS Internal Investigative Unit. Upon completion, the investigation will be presented to the Office of the State’s Attorney in Washington County for review regarding charges.

Deceased inmate pleaded guilty to murder of baby niece

Colin Christopher Wolf was serving time in state prison for a 2015 first-degree murder conviction in . The crime was committed on April 18, 2013.

Wolf pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 33 years in state prison.

Wolf was accused of killing his infant niece, Aubree Roberts, in April 2013, because he was angry at his sister for having the child with a man he did not like, according to the Baltimore Banner.

Wolf sprayed cologne into his baby niece’s mouth, authorities said, then punched her in the face. The 2-month-old baby suffered a brain hemorrhage that killed her.

Wolf pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received a life sentence with all but 33 years suspended, per the Banner.
