Medicalincs

When Nkem Okeke, M.D., decided to be more intentional about serving her life’s purpose, she decided to stop practicing medicine and focus on supporting those in the medical profession.
Not long after completing an MBA program, Okeke founded a nonprofit called Medicalincs as a way to combine the services of health care management consulting and advance primary delivery support under one roof.
“Linking these silos provide the healthcare organizations we support with sustainable, equitable and cost-effective solutions that result in improved health outcomes,” she wrote. “This required significant focus, courage and effort by pulling together my expertise and experience in medicine, business, public health, data analytics, organizational and leadership development and project management.”
Over the course of 13 projects, Okeke’s company has supported more than 3,000 clinicians.
“She has established a track record of increasing patient satisfaction, health outcomes and significant cost savings through her collaboration with important stakeholders to create sustainable healthcare solutions across the care continuum and social contexts,” wrote Amanda Webb, who nominated Okeke for the award.
Okeke mentor’s physicians who aspire to become physician executives or entrepreneurs.
“As a thought leader in value-based care and population health management, my work has been used by others to develop and expand on value-based care advancements in the state of Maryland and nationally,” Okeke wrote.
She was appointed to serve on the advisory council of the Maryland Primary Care Program to advise on primary care transformation in the state and as a faculty affiliate on value-based care at Harvard Medical School, Center for Primary Care.
Healthlinics offers financial support to people to buy services or products not covered by their insurance. Okeke sits on the advisory councils of numerous groups, including Lasell Village, the Black Women’s Health Imperative and the Sachs 10KSB Program.
