If you had not chosen your current profession, what profession would you choose and why?
If I hadn’t pursued a career in finance, my alternative path would have led me into college sports information. I worked in sports information in college, gaining valuable experience, and I enjoyed the quantitative aspect of game statistics, while also honing my public speaking skills as public address announcer during pressure situations.
What was a recent vacation you took?
During our recent vacation, my wife and I traveled to French Polynesia. Exploring the breathtaking beauty of Bora Bora, we were mesmerized by the pastel blue hues of the surrounding lagoon. No photograph could truly do justice to the awe-inspiring sights we witnessed. More importantly, it was a once in a lifetime getaway for the two of us.
What do you do when you want to relax?
I work out at least five times per week to declutter my mind, unwind and recharge. When I can, I escape life on the golf course, enjoying a good walk, focusing on the next shot, and if I’m playing well, beating my friends. Finally, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, usually as the executive chef for family dinners and tailgates.
Favorite book (or movie, band or pop culture item, etc.)
Now that everything is available for streaming, I re-watched the series finale of the TV show The Americans. When the show aired, I never missed an episode. The character development in that show was amazing, showing the struggle between good and evil, the dynamics of a strong but fraught relationship, and the coming of age for the younger characters. The reveals in the series finale, particularly the last 15 minutes, are stunning.
Favorite quotation:
“Don’t worry about the mule, just load the wagon.” Focus on what you can control and let go of concerns about things you can’t change. This philosophy speaks to the importance of acting and managing the tasks within your power, rather than becoming consumed by worries about external factors or circumstances beyond your control. It also reminds you that the work must be done, no matter how heavy the load.
