The nation’s transition from a full-blown pandemic into what has been a long slog to a new normalcy has not eased the pressure on Maryland’s health care professionals.

If anything, they now face an unpredictable and bewildering new landscape. The pressures on the health care profession have left many institutions struggling to regain a full workforce, and the divisive debate over pandemic public policies often have put these professional in a difficult position.

The men and women leading our health care institutions, as well as key policymakers and advocates, work every day to meet this challenge. They are the 30 individuals you will meet in this special publication, The Daily Record’s 2023 Health Care Power List.

This list was chosen by our editorial leadership team. We reached out to readers and others for input and perspective. Many of these individuals are familiar from last year’s list, but you’ll find some new men and women who have made their mark in the industry in the last year.

In this list we explore how leaders view the health care landscape and their own jobs. And, just as importantly, we’ve tried to offer a glimpse into the kind of people they are and what drives them to excel.

This list is part of a series of Daily Record Power Lists throughout 2023 that will showcase the most powerful figures in law, politics, higher education, banking and other fields. You can find this and all our Power Lists here.

If you know of someone you think is a strong candidate for inclusion on our Power Lists, we’d love to hear from you. Just go to https://thedailyrecord.com/power-list-recommendation-form/ and tell us about the individual.

We hope you enjoy this publication, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions.
